«The Burgh»
A journalist at the Johnstone & Linwood Gazette was ordered out of the office in 1956 and told to go and find out whether the town still wanted a football club, after the old Scottish league side Johnstone F.C. had gone.
The club has stayed at Keanie Park on Auchenlodment Road ever since, on land given by the builder the ground is named after, James Y. Keanie.
Most of what Johnstone Burgh have won belongs to Renfrewshire and the junior game around Glasgow — Renfrewshire Cups, an Erskine Hospital Charity Cup taken six times, the odd Dryburgh Cup. The Scottish Junior Cup sits apart from that.
League form has run in the same start-stop pattern.
What The Burgh have not done is turn any of that into senior football.
