Kalsdorf

Kalsdorf sits in the Regionalliga Mitte, the third tier of Austrian football.

Both of those occasions involved Sturm Graz. On 12 September 2006, with 4,300 people packed in, Kalsdorf beat the Graz club 1:0. Seven years later, on 24 September 2013, they did it again, 2:1, against a Sturm side that was the reigning Austrian champion at the time — and Kalsdorf played most of the match a man down. Results like that, against a club many divisions above, are why the fixture still gets brought up locally, separate from the more regular business of the Steirer-Derby against SC Gleisdorf 09.

The club was founded on 26 May 1946 as Sportclub Kalsdorf, though it did not carry that name continuously. Sponsorship took it over twice — SC Lapp-Finze from 1950, then WSV Lapp-Finze from 1954 — before the original identity was restored in 1981.

The person most tied to what the club became since is Christian Peintinger. He played for Kalsdorf across the late 1990s and into the 2000s, then took over as player-coach and pushed the team up into the Regionalliga for the first time. He left, and when the club needed doing again nearly a decade later, it was Peintinger who came back and got them promoted a second time, in 2011–12.
