Kristiansund BK

Kristiansund reached the semi-finals of the Norwegian Cup in 2025. Before that, the high-water mark was a quarter-final in 2017.

Kristiansund Stadion holds 4,444. The club moved in during 2014. Before that, they were nomadic: Atlanten Stadion from 2004 to 2006, then a season out in the neighbouring municipality of Frei in 2007 because the pitch at home had gone, then Gamle Idrett from 2008 to 2013. Promotion to the top flight arrived two years after the club finally had a fixed address.

Christian Michelsen took the job on 1 January 2014 and kept it until 25 August 2023 — nine and a half years, covering the 1. divisjon title in 2016 and every season the club has spent in the Eliteserien. Amund Skiri replaced him the following day.

Molde sit 65 kilometres down the coast, in the same county, and the fixture carries more weight in Kristiansund than any other. There is no city derby, and there cannot be one.

That is because the two clubs who would have contested it no longer exist separately. Kristiansund FK and Clausenengen FK merged on 2 September 2003, with the local bank Sparebank 1 Nordvest driving the process and then bankrolling it. Clausenengen had form for producing players: Ole Gunnar Solskjær scored 115 goals in 109 matches there between 1990 and 1995 before Molde signed him.
