Nils Arne Eggen took over a team hunting for consistency. Between 1992 and 2004 Rosenborg won thirteen league titles in a row, and Eggen was in charge for all fourteen he collected before he was done.
The run had a European chapter too. In the 1996/97 season Rosenborg reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League, and in 2008 added the Intertoto Cup to a trophy list that already ran to 26 league championships and 12 Norwegian Cups by the time the most recent double came in 2018. Ole Gunnar Solskjær, John Carew and Erling Haaland, who started out in the youth ranks, all passed through the same club before their careers took them elsewhere.
None of it moved from Trondheim.
