Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney did not buy a football club in December 2025 — they bought a name and a badge, but the green and white stayed behind. Seguros La Equidad, the insurer that founded the team on 1 December 1982 as an amateur side, kept the colours and the identity when it sold 99% of the shares to the Tylis-Porter consortium. What took the field afterwards carried a different name, Internacional de Bogotá.

The club spent over a decade in Bogotá's amateur football league before DIMAYOR recognised it as a professional outfit in 2003, when it also adopted the name Club Deportivo La Equidad. Three years later it won Primera B and reached the top flight, Categoría Primera A, for the first time. The nickname Los Aseguradores never let anyone forget where the money came from.

The one trophy that mattered arrived in 2008, in the Copa Colombia final against Once Caldas. La Equidad won the first leg 1-0 away, then held out for a 3-3 draw at home in the return fixture, enough for a 4-3 aggregate win and the club's first major title. It played its home games at the Estadio Metropolitano de Techo, a 10,000-seat ground in Bogotá known locally as El Fortín de Techo.

In the capital, La Equidad's rival was never a matter of trophies but of streets and generations. Santa Fe and Millonarios have shared Bogotá's football loyalties for decades, and any side wearing the city's colours in a smaller stadium was always measured against those two.
