Lamphun Warriors sit in Thai League 1 these days, a level that seemed unthinkable for a club that started life representing the province in the Northern Region of Division 2. The run that got them there was rapid rather than gradual: the Thai League 3 Northern Region and national titles in 2020–21, the Thai League 2 championship the following season, and with it a place among Thailand's elite.

Alexandre Gama took charge through that stretch and is remembered simply as the manager who carried the club up two divisions inside a few seasons, a rare thing in Thai football. Jeffrén Suárez, once on the books at Real Madrid and Barcelona as a youth player, finished as top scorer during the Thai League 2 title season, a name that stood out among the players making the promotion possible.

The club plays as The White Cattles, a nickname tied to the white shirts, in white and red. Home matches now come at the purpose-built Lamphun Warriors Stadium, a 5,000-seat ground the club moved into in 2024 after several seasons at the much larger 700th Anniversary Stadium in Chiang Mai. Ownership changed hands too: Pongsiri Thanratchawongsuek, who bought the club in 2017 and pushed it through the divisions, was arrested in 2022 over gambling and money-laundering allegations, and LC Marble (Thailand) has held the club since 2023.

None of that carries the local weight of the Lanna Derby against Chiangmai FC, the fixture regarded as the defining rivalry of northern Thai football, with Phayao FC and Chiangrai United providing the region's other reference points. It is a rivalry rooted in geography more than history, fitting for a club that only came into being on 1 August 2011, when Lamphun province needed a team of its own to enter the league.
