Linlithgow Rose

Junior football in West Lothian had its own structure, and Linlithgow Rose spent most of its existence within it. The club traces itself to 1889, closed during the First World War and came back in July 1923. For decades the currency was the Scottish Junior Cup, won in 1964–65 and then, after a long gap, three times between 2001–02 and 2009–10.

The move out of the Junior ranks came only in 2018, when Linlithgow Rose joined the East of Scotland Football League. Promotion followed the pattern of the old cup-winning sides: local strength converted into a step up, not an instant one. The East of Scotland League Premier Division title in 2022–23 took them into the Lowland League, and in 2025–26 they won that too. The club stayed out of the promotion play-offs that would have carried it toward the SPFL, kept out by licensing issues rather than form.

Jamie Gullan, who had played for Hibernian and Raith Rovers before joining in 2024, arrived as the kind of signing that marks how far the step up from Junior football had already taken the club by then. Home games are played at Prestonfield, a ground with room for barely 300 seated among its 2,264 capacity, against Bonnyrigg Rose in a fixture known locally as the War of the Roses.

The women's section, formed only in February 2021, has managed a single trophy so far, the SWFL Plate in 2023–24, and has not reached either the Scottish Women's Premier League or the Scottish Women's Cup.
