Lochee United

Three East Region Superleague titles frame Lochee United's modern era. The first, in 2004–05, came days after they had lost the Scottish Junior Cup final 2–0 to Tayport, under manager Eddie Wolecki Black, whose arrival had already lifted the Dundee side back into the top flight in 2003. The second, in 2007–08 under Ray McKinnon, opened a door that had never been open before: it sent Lochee United into the Scottish Cup for the first time, where they held Ayr United to a 1–1 draw before going out in the replay. A third followed in 2018–19.

Between those campaigns sit spells that tell a different story. Relegation arrived in 1992–93 and again in 2014–15, and each time promotion followed within a few seasons, most recently in 2015–16. The 2008–09 season added a trophy no Tayside junior club had held before: the East of Scotland Junior Cup.

Thomson Park, opened in 1959 by the former Rangers and Scotland captain George Young, gave the club a permanent home after 67 years without one. Bobby Linn, who had already won the Scottish Professional Football League's League One Player of the Year award with Dundee and Arbroath, signed for Lochee United in June 2023, bringing senior pedigree back to a ground with room for 3,200. The fixtures with Tayport carry the memory of that 2005 final, while the meeting with Dundee Violet is the one the club itself calls the derby.

The club's history extends back further than 1892, when a juvenile side first took the name in Lochee, the Dundee district it still represents.
