Mławianka Mława

Mława sits in the Zawrze region of northern Mazovia, and for a town of its size, Mławianka is the club that carries its name onto the pitch — hence the nickname Serce Miasta, the Heart of the City. Football here has run through the Miejski Klub Sportowy since 1923, and the club spent a stretch between 1997 and 2010 competing simply as MKS Mława before reverting to its old name.

The high point came in the 2003/04 season, when the club won its III Liga group and went up to the II Liga — a first taste of the second tier that lasted only one season, ending in relegation after a 17th-place finish in 2004/05. That single campaign left a mark anyway: Maxwell Kalu, a Nigerian striker who arrived for that promoted side, scored Mławianka's first-ever goal at the II Liga level. The club has stayed closer to regional football since, though it fought its way back to the III Liga through the promotion playoffs in 2022.

Mławianka reached the last 32 of the Polish Cup in 1994/95 before Lech Poznań ended the run, and it has also picked up the regional cup, most recently in 2014/15. Among the players who passed through, Marek Jóźwiak stands out: a defender who played for the club in the mid-1980s before going on to become a Legia Warsaw legend.

Matches at the Stadion Miejski im. Ireny Szewińskiej, with room for 1,550, run alongside a long-standing local rivalry with GKS Wikielec whenever the two share a III Liga group. For now, the club's task is the one it has faced for most of its history: holding its place in the third tier and building on the youth pipeline that keeps northern Mazovia's football running through Mława.
