Mulbarton Wanderers

Maurice "Monty" Norman grew up in Mulbarton, played for the village side before Norwich City took him, and went on to win the League and FA Cup double with Tottenham Hotspur. Norwich marked the transfer by sending the local club red and black shirts and four footballs.

The club itself is younger than that story. It was formed in 1993 out of the wreckage of Mulbarton United, which had just won the Anglian Combination Premier Division when a dispute over player payments finished it off; the youth section broke away and carried the name forward. In 2001 a merger with the Harford Belles girls' team gave the new club its first senior men's side.

Joining the Anglian Combination in 2009, Mulbarton Wanderers won six promotions in a row to reach the Premier Division by 2015, then moved up again to the Eastern Counties League in 2018. Mulberry Park, on the Common, dates to 1990, when Mulbarton United raised £25,000 to move the club off open ground; the Wanderers took over the lease in 2009 and still play in front of two 60-seat stands, the rest standing room, with room for 2,000.

The Norfolk Senior Cup has become something of a habit — won in 2022 against Gorleston, and again in 2026. Champions of the Eastern Counties League Premier Division, the League Challenge Cup added alongside it, and a first taste of Isthmian League football to come at Step 4.
