Neusiedl

The early decades left little trace, but the 1970s and 1980s turned into the club's busiest stretch: the Landesliga Burgenland title in 1976, the Burgenland Cup the following year, and then, in 1980, the Regionalliga Ost championship that carried them into the second division.

Three years later they went further still. A fourth-place finish in an expanded second division sent SC Neusiedl am See into the Austrian Bundesliga for 1983–84, with Thomas Parits in charge of the side that made the jump. The stay in the top flight lasted two seasons before relegation returned them to regional football, where the club has mostly remained.

The return trips have come in fits and starts — promotion back to the Regionalliga Ost in 2014, Burgenland Cup wins that same year and again in 2017 — and the closest brush with the big time since came in the 2018–19 Austrian Cup, when Neusiedl reached the round of 16. The rivalry that means most locally is with SC/ESV Parndorf, billed simply as the Derby; matches with SV Lafnitz carry the same regional weight.

Youth production has counted for something too: goalkeeper Udo Siebenhandl came through the club before his under-21 caps and now coaches goalkeepers at Austria Wien, while Philipp Steiner went on from Neusiedl to SV Mattersburg. The Sportzentrum where it all still plays out holds 3,000.
