Pirmasens

Heinz Kubsch kept goal for Pirmasens from 1951 to 1961. In 1954 he was in the West Germany squad that won the World Cup, and he won three caps. He arrived just as the club was at its peak: Pirmasens had lost the national championship final to VfB Stuttgart in 1950 and to 1. FC Kaiserslautern in 1951, and in the 1951–52 season they beat Kaiserslautern 5–2 in the DFB-Pokal final.

The Oberliga Südwest titles of 1958, 1959 and 1960 came while Kubsch was still in the side. When the 2. Bundesliga started in 1974, Pirmasens were in it, and they stayed until 1981, when a finish of 18th in the southern section sent them down. The fall did not stop there. By 1995 the club was in the sixth tier, the Landesliga. In 2006 they drew Werder Bremen in the first round of the DFB-Pokal and beat them.

The club began in 1903 as the football section of the gymnastics club TV Pirminia Pirmasens, became independent in 1914 and took its present name in 1925. Locally it is simply "Die Klub". Its nickname, "The Power from Horeb", points to the Husterhöhe, the hill above the town where the ground stands. Matches against FC 08 Homburg are the Saar-Pfalz-Derby, the fixture the club is most tied to.

The Sportpark Husterhöhe, also called the Framas Stadion, holds 10,000, with 3,000 seats and standing room for 7,000. On that hill the blue-and-white shirts have been seen for decades.
