Portel remains a fixture of the AF Évora district structure, the level at which Grupo Desportivo de Portel has always played and where its competitive life is decided each season.
The club's honours read as a record of that district, not beyond it. Two titles in the AF Évora Divisão de Honra, taken in 2014–15 and 2016–17, mark its strongest recent run, and the same period bookends a pair of Taça AF Évora wins, in 1998–99 and 2009–10, doubled that year by the Taça Dinis Vital.
Home games are played at the Estádio Municipal D. Nuno Álvares Pereira, listed at 2,000 seats in the databases that track the club, well below the figure local tourism material gives for the same ground. Portel has never run its own website; the last trace of one online is a blog left inactive since 2011.
