Pratzerthal-Redange

Pratzerthal-Redange spent 2021–22 doing something it had not managed since two village sides put their names together: winning a league outright. Twenty-six games, 60 points, 95 goals scored against 29 let in — the Echelner Liga table that season had the club's name at the top, its first title since formation.

The formation itself came from a straightforward act of consolidation: on 15 November 2001, Amis des Sports Pratzerthal and SC Redange merged into a single club rather than continuing to split players and supporters across two small committees in the same corner of Luxembourg. The name kept both places in it, and so, in practice, did the fixtures — the club still turns out at two grounds, Terrain an der Seitert in Redange and Stade Emile Schlesser over in Bettborn/Préizerdaul.

There had been a warning sign of promotion six years earlier, when the 2015–16 side finished second in the Echelner Liga with 56 points and went up nowhere. The pattern repeated at the other end of the table too: third place in 2013–14 was undone by a playoff defeat to US Boevange/Attert after extra time, and twelfth in the Ehrenpromotion in 2016–17 cost them a relegation playoff against AS Wincrange, lost 3–2.

The club's clearest name belongs to Žarko Lukić, who arrived in 2020 already carrying two Luxembourg league titles from spells at F91 Dudelange and CS Fola Esch, and two caps for the national team from 2008.
