Quick Boys

The fixture that matters most in Katwijk is not against another town but across it: Quick Boys against VV Katwijk, the "Katwijksederby". Three clubs, one stretch of coast, and a rivalry old enough to have earned its own nickname, "Kattukse Twist".

What Quick Boys have built is a career spent almost entirely at the top of Dutch amateur football rather than in it — thirteen Hoofdklasse titles stretched from 1945–46 to 2025–26, with three separate national amateur championships along the way. The step up finally came in 2016, when a promotion play-off put them into the Tweede Divisie, the third tier. They won that division outright in 2024–25 and again the following season.

The 2024–25 KNVB Cup run showed what that amateur pedigree could still do against professional opposition: Quick Boys beat Eredivisie side Almere City 3–0, then Fortuna Sittard 3–1, then sc Heerenveen, before AZ Alkmaar ended the run in the quarter-finals — the same stage they had reached once before, in 2007–08.

Sportpark Nieuw Zuid has held 8,500 spectators since 1955; its main stand was rebuilt in part with money that followed one transfer in particular.

That transfer was Dirk Kuyt's. He came through at Quick Boys, made his debut there at eighteen, and left for FC Utrecht before Feyenoord, Liverpool and Fenerbahçe, and 104 Netherlands caps. He came back in 2018.
