Ružomberok II

That is what MFK Ružomberok II is: the reserve side, playing under the same badge and the same colours, orange, black and white, and sharing the "Ruža" nickname with the senior team.

Its own record in the league system is patchy by design. It first appeared in the fourth tier in the 2001–02 season, having featured in regional football back in 1979–80, and later climbed as high as the second tier, where it stayed from 2008 to 2012 before being withdrawn. It returned in 2017, again from the fourth tier, and won promotion to the third tier for 2018–19, where it still plays, in the Central group.

The point of a side like this is what leaves it rather than what it wins. Tomáš Frühwald came through as a goalkeeper and was Ružomberok's first choice before Bohemians Praha 1905 paid at least €375,000 for him in 2024. Neither man's progress shows up in the reserve team's own record, which carries no honours at all — its best finish in the second tier was seventh place.

The restriction that shapes everything else is a simple one: as a reserve team, it cannot be promoted to the top flight and cannot enter the Slovak Cup, however far it climbs in the league pyramid.
