Slovácko II

None of Slovácko's cup runs or European nights belong to this side. The team that trains and plays out of Kunovice exists to send players the other way — up the road to Uherské Hradiště, into the first team's shirt — and its own results are treated as a means, not an end. Matěj Kovář and Lukáš Sadílek both came up through the same academy structure that now feeds this reserve side, learning the level before the step up.

The setup shows in the rules as much as the roster. Playing in the Moravian-Silesian Football League, the third tier, 1. FC Slovácko II cannot be promoted above that level and cannot enter the Czech Cup, regardless of what it does on the pitch — a reserve team is barred from both by the format of Czech football, not by anything it has or hasn't earned. The senior side has already done the winning that counts: the Czech Cup in 2021–22, with runner-up finishes in 2004–05 and 2008–09.

Matches are played at Stadion v Kunovicích, a ground with room for 3,000 and seating for well under a quarter of that, a scale that suits a team whose job is development rather than drawing crowds.

What rivalry the reserve side has, it inherits rather than builds. The first team's meetings with Fastav Zlín, Sigma Olomouc and Zbrojovka Brno are grouped together as the Moravian Derby, contests with enough history behind them that a Slovácko shirt means something before a ball is kicked — the same shirt this second team wears while it waits its turn.
