Salitas FC

For a decade, Ouaga 2000 had no team to call its own. Colonel Yacouba Ouédraogo filled that gap in 2015, drawing the club's name and its early identity from the military logistics school EFAI, and Salitas plays under the nickname Les Colombes, the doves.

Promotion from the second division brought Salitas into the Ligue 1 for the 2017–18 season, and the club marked its very first year at the top by winning the Coupe du Faso, beating ASFB 2–0 in the final under coach Ladji Coulibaly, then adding the Super Coupe AJSB against the same opponent on penalties. That cup run opened the door to the CAF Confederation Cup, where Salitas became the first Burkinabé club to reach a group stage in continental competition, finishing behind ES Sahel and CS Sfaxien.

What has kept the club relevant since is the academy at Ouaga 2000, the Centre des Colombes. Edmond Tapsoba came through it on his way to Bayer Leverkusen, and Hassane Bandé followed a similar path through Anderlecht and Ajax.

The title race of 2018–19 came down to goal difference against Rahimo FC, a club with its own roots in the military and academic world, and the meetings between the two are known as the Derby des académiciens.
