Starowice Dolne

Football in Starowice Dolne is older than the club that now carries the name. People in the village were kicking a ball in the 1940s, possibly around 1945 and tied to the local fire brigade, and the sports club later ran a volleyball section in the 1960s and 70s. The present legal entity dates from 2002, when Dariusz Gajewski re-registered and reactivated it. LZS, short for Ludowy Zespół Sportowy, is the Polish label for a village sports club, and local media still describe this one as among the highest-ranked of its kind in the country.

The village sits in Gmina Grodków, in Brzeg County, and the club's best years have come from there. It first reached the III Liga, the fourth tier, in 2019/2020. That summer the Slovak forward Dávid Haščák scored 15 goals in 23 games.

The 2022/2023 season made the difference. Starowice won the IV Liga Opolska and the promotion that came with it. In the Opole Voivodeship Cup they beat Polonia Nysa 1-0 in the semi-final. The step up did not last: they went back down to the IV Liga after 2023/2024. They won the league again in 2024/2025 and returned to the III Liga.

The county derby with Stal Brzeg carries the most weight locally, since both clubs belong to Brzeg County. In the III Liga the fixtures against Polonia Nysa and MKS Kluczbork add regional rivalries.
