Stellenbosch

Stellenbosch went into the 2018/19 season chasing promotion and took it as champions of the National First Division, a result that put the club in the Premier Soccer League for the first time. Four years later came a second trophy, the Carling Knockout Cup, won in 2023. The reserve side has kept pace at its own level, taking the DStv Diski Challenge in 2021/22 and 2023/24 and the Premier League Next Gen Cup in 2022 and 2024.

The club carries the name of the university town in the Western Cape, but it started elsewhere: Vasco da Gama FC, founded in Parow, a Cape Town suburb, in 1980, before the move to Stellenbosch and the renaming on 3 August 2016. The step that changed the club's trajectory came in 2018, when Stellenbosch Academy of Sport bought it with backing from the investment group Remgro, funding the upgrade in infrastructure that preceded the title-winning season.

Home games are played at Danie Craven Stadium, capacity 16,000. The team plays in claret and gold, and goes by Stellies or the Maroons.

Deano van Rooyen holds the club appearance record with 134 games, ahead of Rafique de Goede on 114 and Jarrod Moroolo on 108. Ikram Reyners is the club's all-time top scorer. Goalkeeper Lee Langeveldt, an Idas Valley AFC junior before he reached Stellenbosch, captains the side. Atenkosi Mkaba became the club's first player capped by Bafana Bafana. Player-of-the-year honours have gone to Robyn Johannes in 2020, Zitha Kwinika in 2022, Júnior Mendieta in 2023 and Fawaaz Basadien in 2025.

For a club not yet ten years removed from Parow, the honours list still runs to one league title and one cup. A first PSL trophy is the one still missing.
