The women's side at SC Pinkafeld went their own way in 2002, setting up as a separate club, and the promotion came almost immediately: champions of the 2. Division Ost in 2002/03 and into the Austrian top flight at the first attempt.

What followed was a decade of near misses. The 2004 ÖFB-Frauencup final remains the club's heaviest day — 0:12 against SV Neulengbach.

The 2010/11 season was the one that paid. Südburgenland finished second in the ÖFB Frauen-Bundesliga , and in September 2011 the club collected the Bruno award as the best women's football team in Austria for that season. A year earlier they had already taken the Burgenland cup, beating FC Winden 5:0 in the final, and been named the region's team of the year.

Home is the FußballArena Mischendorf , 1,500 capacity, with the club based at Olbendorf in southern Burgenland and playing in blue and white. HOCO Südburgenland is the sponsored version of the name.
