SV Zeilsheim

Zeilsheim and Schwanheim sit close enough on the western side of Frankfurt that the fixture against FC Germania Schwanheim is billed as a "Derby" in the local press, and it has been played in the lower leagues.

SV Zeilsheim is the kind of club that gets there by climbing, one division at a time. Its first incarnation, 1. FC Zeilsheim, formed in 1912 and was dissolved in 1914 because of the First World War. The A-Klasse Main-Taunus titles of 1948 and 1958 kept it going in the local leagues. Then came a run of promotions: the Bezirksliga in 1999, the Bezirksoberliga in 2001 and the Bezirksoberliga Wiesbaden in 2006, the last two of which took it to the Landesliga, later renamed the Verbandsliga.

The Hessenliga was a longer wait. Zeilsheim won the Verbandsliga Hessen (Mitte group) in 2015 and went up, but the title that stands out is 2020. The pandemic ended the 2019/20 season early and the championship was awarded on the quotient rule, which gave the club its first promotion to the Hessenliga.

The Hessenpokal run of 2015/16 ended in the second round against SV Wiesbaden. In 2012–13 Thomas Zampach, who had played professionally for Eintracht Frankfurt, Mainz 05 and Kickers Offenbach, was in charge of the side. The Greens now play in the Verbandsliga Mitte, the sixth tier, in green shirts and green shorts. Schwanheim is still the fixture the district looks for first when the list comes out.
