The Bees

Nkomati sits inside the Mbombela municipality in Mpumalanga, and for years its football answer was Mbombela United, the bigger club playing in Nelspruit under the Tingwenyama name. The Bees Football Club built something separate, out of the township of KaNyamazane, working up from the ABC Motsepe League.

That climb had a shape to it. Eleventh place in the Mpumalanga Stream of the SAFA Second Division in 2023–24 was followed by the title itself a year later, and then a playoff final in which The Bees finished runners-up to Gomora United — a result that still carried them up into the National First Division for 2025–26. Humphrey Mlwane took them through that run as head coach, then was let go in November 2025.

The yellow and black kit gives the nickname somewhere to live, and Enocent Mkhabela wears the captain's armband — spells at Kaizer Chiefs, SuperSport United and Platinum Stars before he came to lead a side still finding its level. Ndumiso Mabena, once of Orlando Pirates, arrived among the close-season signings.

Home games are played at KaNyamazane Stadium, holding around 15,000, well short of the Mbombela Stadium across town that the club has no claim on. The Selati Super Cup, won in 2025, sits alongside the league honour. Gomora United remains the name that matters most: the club that stood between The Bees and outright promotion, and the one they will measure themselves against now that both play in the same division.
