Trnje

In August 2024, Trnje put out a side to face Dinamo Zagreb and beat them 2:1.

The club formed in 1924 and the original name came back in 1950 and stuck. Zoran Milanović, later President of Croatia, played for Trnje as a boy.

Trnje have never pushed into Croatia's top flight; the one trophy in the cabinet is the Zagreb Football Union Cup, won in 2003/04. The bigger return has come from the academy — a Croatian Cup final at under-16 level in 1980, Zagreb youth cup wins at pioneer level in 2005 and again in 2024 — and this year both the junior and cadet sides earned promotion to the 1. HNL, taking the club's name into competition it had not reached before.

Home games are played at Stadion Trnje, a ground that holds around a thousand, in the blue and white the club has worn since its early years. What rivalry exists is local, drawn from the other clubs of Zagreb's working-class districts rather than from the city's two big names — the kind of derby decided by who still turns up on a Sunday in Trnje itself.
