Kyiv trains its youth internationals at Koncha-Zaspa, the Olympic training centre on the city's edge, but war has stripped the team of anywhere to call its own ground. Since the invasion, UEFA rules and safety concerns have scattered the squad's home fixtures across the country and beyond it — Slavutich-Arena in Zaporizhzhia, Arena Lviv, Metalist in Kharkiv, the Olympic National Sports Complex in Kyiv itself, wherever a pitch and a crowd can be arranged.
The side first took the field under Ukraine's own flag on 28 October 1992, a goalless friendly against Belarus in Ternopil, and entered competitive football two years later in qualifying for the 1996 European Under-21 Championship.
Its finest run at the European Under-21 Championship came in 2006, when Ukraine reached the final and were beaten 3–0 by the Netherlands. Semi-final appearances followed in 2011 and 2019, and in 2023 the team finally stood on a podium, taking third place. Between those campaigns it also picked up the Commonwealth of Independent States Cup in 2014 and a second Lobanovskyi Memorial title in 2019.
There is no single stadium where that history has been written. It sits instead in whichever city can host the match — Lviv one month, Zaporizhzhia the next — the colours blue and yellow the only constant wherever the young side turns out.
