«Lupii Galbeni»
That year the Romanian Football Federation's July 2019 ruling, which obliged every Liga 1 men's club to field a women's side, turned into actual trials. Universitatea Craiova was the first of those clubs to start selecting players, holding its first sessions in February 2020.
The section took the yellow wolves' nickname, Lupii Galbeni , and the white and blue colours of the men's side. Craiova had a women's champion long before: CFR Craiova won the national title in 1992.
In Liga 3 Feminin, Seria 2, the team went through the season unbeaten, with 14 wins and a draw. It scored 138 goals and conceded 7, and promotion to Liga 2 Feminin followed. The Cupa României Feminin was less kind: after knocking out ACS Atletic Drobeta, AFC Hermannstadt and ACS Campionii FC Argeș, the team reached Group C and won one of its three games there.
Behind the first team stand U13, U15 and U17 sides, with about 70 registered girls.
