Vale of Leithen

Vale of Leithen plays at Victoria Park, a ground without floodlights or seats, where a recent infrastructure project finally brought illumination to the pitch. The club has remained in Innerleithen since a short spell in the Junior Leagues during the 1920s, anchoring itself in the Scottish Borders thirty miles south of Edinburgh. Founded in May 1891, it became a full member of the Scottish Football Association in 1897, establishing a presence that has lasted well over a century. The team, known as The Vale, wears navy blue and yellow. Their badge features Saint Ronan in a boat with the motto "Keep Faith." They compete in the Scottish Lowland League. Honours are not counted in rows here. Eleven Border Cup wins stand out. More recently, four East of Scotland Football League titles in 1925, 1978, 1979, and 1987. The Centenary Cup win in 2027 serves as a reminder that the club is still active and competitive, even if the main stage remains the lowland leagues.

Current Status

The club continues to participate in the FA Cup and friendlies, keeping its name known beyond the local borders. With the new floodlights in place, the evenings at Victoria Park have changed, but the spirit of the team has not. They are in control of their own environment, playing for the town that has supported them for more than a hundred years.
