Văn Hiến

Thống Nhất Stadium sits in the centre of Ho Chi Minh City, and it is where Văn Hiến University FC has played every home fixture since taking up a place in the professional pyramid.

The club did not grow out of a village team or a works side but out of a university. Founded on 14 May 2022 by Văn Hiến University, itself established in 1997 by the Hung Hau Group, the team spent its early years in student competitions rather than the national league system. That changed in 2024, when it bought the Second Division slot vacated by Quảng Nam B and entered Hạng Nhì as a fully professional outfit for the first time.

The step up did not take long to pay off. In 2025, Văn Hiến University FC won Group B of the Second Division, a result that carries them into V.League 2 for the 2025–26 season — a rapid rise for a club that had been playing student football three years earlier. The squad remains built around that original idea: most of the players are enrolled at the university, training and playing professionally while still studying.

Danish-Vietnamese forward Ilias Namli has given the attack an unfamiliar profile for a Second Division side, while goalkeeper Nguyễn Thanh Tuấn has provided a more conventional route into the first team. Hoàng Hải Dương took the club up as head coach in 2025 before Technical Director Nguyễn Đình Hưng took over responsibility for the side. With no history in the second tier to draw on, the immediate task is straightforward: establishing the university's team in V.League 2.
