Viitorul was set up in the district in 2014 to give the area its own senior club.

That changed in 2023-24. Under Flavius Pavel and backed by Giovanni Catanzariti, Viitorul won the Liga IV Arad title ahead of CS Unirea Sântana, then beat Minerul Lupeni 3-0 on aggregate in the promotion play-off to reach Liga III — the first time in the club's history it had climbed that high. Cristian Sculici took over coaching the side once it arrived in the third tier.

The yellow and blue kit sets them apart from Roș-albii, the reds and whites of UTA across town. Viitorul's ground, Stadionul Banatul in the Sânicolaul Mic neighbourhood, holds 2,000.
