Wda Świecie

Wda was born in that setting: on 8 March 1957 as the Artisan Sports Club. It became Start-Wda in 1960. On 20 April 1966 it turned into the Factory Sports Club under the patronage of a local manufacturing plant. It has been plain Klub Sportowy Wda Świecie since 1 May 1991.

Wda has never been a big club, but it has spent 14 seasons in the third tier, the III Liga. Its best finish there came twice: third place in 1984/1985 and again in 2012/2013, the latter followed by fourth in 2013/2014. The 2014/2015 season brought the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Cup, the club's third regional cup, and that put Wda into the national Polish Cup. In 2015/2016 it reached the last 16.

The fixtures that matter most are against Zawisza Bydgoszcz, a bigger club from the same voivodeship. Those matches are billed locally as the Świecie-Bydgoszcz derby. Elana Toruń is the other rival.

Wda dropped out of the III Liga and spent time below it. In 2023/2024 it won the IV Liga Kuyavian-Pomeranian and went back up. The club also keeps boxing, athletics, kickboxing, cycling and tennis sections, and its youth academy holds a Silver Certificate from the Polish Football Association.

The name most tied to the club is Damian Sulowski. He came through the youth system and became captain. He died in April 2022 after a battle with cancer.
