Canada in Zimbabwe 2024/25

The cricket series known as Canada in Zimbabwe operates at the developmental level, featuring Zimbabwe A against the Canadian national side. These encounters take place on Zimbabwean soil and serve as preparation for international campaigns rather than constituting official senior bilateral contests. The fixtures are classified as unofficial One Day Internationals, carrying List-A status for statistical purposes but lacking the weight of full international recognition.

The format typically involves a short tour comprising three matches. The most recent iteration occurred in February and March 2025, providing Canadian players with exposure ahead of their 2027 World Cup League 2 campaign. Zimbabwe A secured victory in that series, winning two matches while Canada claimed the third. Previous tours have followed a similar pattern, including a visit in January 2015 where Zimbabwe A again triumphed 2-1. Another such series took place in May 2017, with Zimbabwe A winning both matches played.

These tours fill a gap in regular cricketing engagement between the two nations. Canada and Zimbabwe do not maintain a standard senior bilateral ODI or T20I schedule within Zimbabwe. Instead, their history on local soil is marked by sporadic meetings in major ICC tournaments. They faced each other during the 2003 Cricket World Cup and again in the 2018 ICC World Cup Qualifier held in Harare. In those high-stakes environments, Zimbabwe emerged victorious in both instances.

The developmental nature of these tours allows Zimbabwe A players to test themselves against a competitive mid-tier side. For Canada, the series offers valuable experience in conditions that may differ from their home grounds. The matches are played in Harare, providing a consistent venue for these preparatory efforts. While the results vary, the primary objective remains player development and match readiness for future global events. The series stands apart from formal international cricket, focusing on growth rather than ranking points.
