About

The Charlotte Edwards Cup operated as the premier professional Twenty20 domestic tournament for women's cricket in England and Wales. Founded by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2021, the competition initially launched under the title 'Women's Regional T20 Competition' before being renamed to honour former England captain Charlotte Edwards. It ran alongside the 50-over Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy as the top tier of the domestic pyramid.

The tournament featured eight regional teams, including the Sunrisers, Western Storm, Central Sparks, South East Stars, Southern Vipers, and Lightning. The format evolved over its four seasons. The 2024 edition utilized a single-table double round-robin league where all eight teams played each other twice, with the top four advancing to semi-finals and a final. Southern Vipers emerged as the most successful club, winning the title in 2022 and 2023.

The inaugural 2021 winner was the South East Stars. The final 2024 champion was the Blaze, who defeated the South East Stars by 7 wickets in the final at Derby. The competition was discontinued after the 2024 season. In 2025, the ECB replaced the regional structure with a county-based system, launching the Women's T20 Blast, which aligns with the men's county circuit.

The Charlotte Edwards Cup is remembered for its distinct structure compared to traditional county clubs. It maintained a specific focus on T20 cricket within the women's game in England and Wales.
