Continental Cup 2024/25

The ECN Continental Cup operates as a developmental platform for emerging cricket nations in Europe, sitting below the European Cricket Championship (ECC) in the regional hierarchy. Distinct from the ECC, it focuses on teams that are not yet established in the top tiers of European cricket. The tournament is recognized as a Twenty20 International (T20I) by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Organized by the European Cricket Network, the competition brought together Bulgaria, Gibraltar, Hungary, and Romania for its 2024 edition. The format typically involves a small group of teams playing a round-robin league stage followed by playoffs, including a final and a bronze final. There is no formal promotion or relegation link between the ECN Continental Cup and the ECC or ICC World Cup qualifiers, as they operate as parallel tracks.

Men's and women's editions were first held in August 2023 in Bucharest, Romania. In the men's competition, Romania won the inaugural 2023 title after defeating Malta in the final. Hungary subsequently claimed the 2024 men's title by defeating Gibraltar. For the women's tournament, the Isle of Man defeated Greece to win in 2023.

The event provides a structured environment for participating nations to develop their skills without the pressure of immediate advancement. It allows countries like Bulgaria and Gibraltar to gain experience at an international level. The competition continues to serve as a stepping stone for those seeking to elevate their status within European cricket.
