Continental Cup 2026/27

The Continental Cricket Cup operates as an annual Twenty20 International tournament for European national teams. It is administered by ICC Europe and has been hosted in Romania since its inception. The matches take place primarily at the Moara Vlasiei Cricket Ground in Ilfov County, which stands as the only dedicated turf cricket ground in the country. This setup provides a consistent venue for the competition.

Founded in 2018, the event initially served as a standalone open regional championship. Unlike its predecessors, the former European Cricket Championship and the historical ICC Europe T20 Division tournaments, it lacks a formal promotion or relegation mechanism. Participation is determined by invitation or ICC Europe rankings. In 2024, the tournament was rebranded under the umbrella of the newly established European Cricket Association. The format typically involves a round-robin group stage where each team plays every other team once, followed by semi-finals and a final. The number of participating teams has varied, often featuring four to six nations.

Recent editions have included teams such as Belgium, Hungary, Romania, and Switzerland. All matches in the tournament hold T20I status, granted by the ICC to all matches between member nations from January 1, 2019. The tournament serves as a key part of the ICC Europe regional pathway. It provides international experience and ranking points for developing associate nations on their route to global qualification events like the ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Its primary distinction from other European competitions is its role as a high-level preparatory event for T20 World Cup qualifiers, rather than a direct qualifier itself.

Winners: Romania (2018, 2021), Austria (2019), Hungary (2024), Malta (2025), Belgium (2026). Romania is the most successful team with two titles. Belgium holds the current title as of the 2026 edition.
