The **Durham tour of Zimbabwe** is a bilateral cricket arrangement rather than a permanent league or cup. Organised by Durham County Cricket Club in partnership with Zimbabwe Cricket, the initiative began in the 2022-23 season. It serves as a pre-season warm-up for the English county side and provides development opportunities for Zimbabwe A, the country's second-tier national squad.
The fixtures are split into two formats. In the First-Class component, Durham plays three-day matches against Zimbabwe A. These matches are classified as First-Class but do not count towards the domestic Logan Cup standings. During the 2024 tour, Durham won both encounters. A similar pattern emerged during the 2025 tour in March, where the visitors secured victories in both games as well.
In the Twenty20 component, Durham has participated as an invited guest team in the official Zimbabwe Domestic Twenty20 Competition. The club made its debut in the 13th edition of this tournament in March 2024. Durham won the event by defeating the Mashonaland Eagles in the final. This participation was a one-off; the county is not a permanent member of the domestic league, which is contested by Zimbabwe's regional franchises including the Mountaineers, Eagles, Rhinos, Rocks, Tuskers, and Southern.
The primary distinction of this arrangement is its nature as an international club tour rather than a domestic competition. It involves an English county side competing against a national 'A' team and domestic franchises for preparation purposes. The Logan Cup, founded in 1903 and gaining First-Class status in 1993, remains Zimbabwe's premier domestic First-Class competition, distinct from these tour fixtures. The series allows Durham to test their players in conditions different from the English summer while offering Zimbabwe A valuable experience against an established county outfit.
