The Germany T20 Tri-Series is a cricket tournament organized by the Deutscher Cricket Bund (DCB). The governing body was founded in late 1988 in Hanau, succeeding an earlier federation from 1912. The tournament began in 2021, marking the first official T20 International tri-series in the country after the International Cricket Council granted full T20 International status to all matches between its members in January 2019.
The event is an international fixture involving national representative teams rather than a domestic league with promotion and relegation. Matches are designated as T20 Internationals and count toward official ICC rankings. The competition typically follows a triangular round-robin group stage where each team plays the others twice, leading to a final between the top two sides. The 2021 edition took place in August at the Bayer Uerdingen Cricket Ground in Krefeld. Germany, Norway, and France participated, with Spain withdrawing. Germany won the final against Norway by 6 wickets.
In 2022, held in June, the tournament featured Germany, Austria, and Sweden. Germany won again, defeating Austria in the final. A 2026 edition is recorded in some sources, though details remain sparse. The series serves as a development platform for emerging European cricket nations. It stands apart from continental championships such as the European Cricket Championship, which historically focused on 50-over formats or, in its modern iteration, T10 cricket. The German domestic structure includes the T20 Bundesliga and Deutsche Cricketmeisterschaft, but these are separate from the international tri-series.
