About

The Germany tour of Spain is a series of bilateral cricket fixtures between the national teams of the two countries. It is not a permanent league or cup competition with a single structure or founding date, but rather a set of discrete matches organized by the German Cricket Federation (DCB) and Cricket Spain. Both nations are Associate Members of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and compete within the ICC Europe structure.

The primary venue for these encounters is the Desert Springs Cricket Ground in Almería, Spain. This ground received ICC One Day International accreditation in 2021, marking it as Spain's first international-standard facility. The matches played here are official Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), a status granted to all ICC members in 2019. There is no named trophy associated with the bilateral series.

The first recorded T20I series between the teams took place in March 2020 at the Desert Springs Cricket Ground. Originally scheduled for 2019, the two-match series ended in a 1–1 draw. The next dedicated bilateral tour occurred in September 2021, also in Almería. This series consisted of three T20Is, which Spain won 2–1. Notable performances in that series included Talha Khan's unbeaten 51 for Germany in the first match and a record ninth-wicket partnership for Germany in the second.

In November 2022, the teams met again in a triangular tournament in Spain. Spain won both matches against Germany in that event. More recently, in October 2024, Germany defeated Spain by three runs in a T10 match during the European Cricket Championship. Germany Women also defeated Spain Women in a qualifier in December 2024.

The competition differs from domestic leagues as it involves national representative teams rather than clubs. It is distinct from the European Cricket Championship, although the teams often compete against each other within that continental tournament structure. The fixtures serve as a key part of the development of cricket in both nations, providing regular competitive opportunities.
