Kuwait tour of Hong Kong 2025/26

The Bauhinia Falcon Trophy is a bilateral cricket series contested between the Hong Kong national cricket team and the Kuwait national cricket team. It operates under a Memorandum of Understanding signed in July 2025 between Cricket Hong Kong, China (CHK) and Kuwait Cricket, with the inaugural edition staged in Hong Kong from February 25 to March 7, 2026.

The tournament comprises four Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) and three One Day Internationals (ODIs), all carrying official International Cricket Council status. The structure aims to strengthen diplomatic and sporting ties while preparing both squads for ICC pathways, specifically the 2027 ICC Men’s CWC Challenge League and the 2028 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup qualifiers.

Hong Kong secured the inaugural trophy by winning the T20I leg 2–1, with one match abandoned, and the ODI leg 2–0, also with one cancellation. Key victories included a 24-run win in the second T20I and victories by 86 and 62 runs in the second and third ODIs respectively. Kuwait’s Mohamed Aslam was named Player of the Series.

This event focuses exclusively on head-to-head development between two specific Associate members. It remains distinct from regional tournaments involving multiple nations or the domestic structures within either country. In Hong Kong, the top tier is the Premier League with five clubs and promotion to the Championship League. Cricket in Kuwait is governed by the Kuwait Cricket Association, founded in 1996, though the sport has been played by expatriates since 1946. Kuwait has held ICC Associate membership since 2005.

The competition provides a focused environment for skill exchange without the complexity of multi-team qualification pathways found in larger regional events. Both teams benefit from shared experience against a consistent opponent, allowing for targeted preparation for upcoming international fixtures. The series serves as a bridge between the two cricketing communities, fostering cooperation beyond the boundary of the pitch.
