Men's T20 Asia Cup 2022/23

The Men’s T20 Asia Cup is the Twenty20 International edition of the senior men’s cricket tournament known as the Asia Cup. Organised by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), it is not a standalone competition but rather the shorter-format iteration of a tournament founded in 1984 that traditionally featured One Day International matches. The T20 version emerged in 2016 following an ACC announcement to rotate formats, a move designed partly to serve as a qualifier and preparation for the ICC World Twenty20 that year. Since its inception, the event has alternated between the T20 and ODI styles, ensuring that the broader competition remains continuous rather than splitting into separate entities. The 2025 edition, the most recent completed T20 tournament, took place in the UAE and featured eight teams: five Full Members and three Associates who qualified through the ACC Men’s Premier Cup. Teams were split into two groups of four, with the top sides from each group advancing to a ‘Super Four’ round-robin stage. The final of that championship was contested between India and Pakistan, with the Indian side emerging victorious. Across the entire history of the Asia Cup, India holds the record for the most titles with nine, including two in the T20 format alongside seven in the longer game. Sri Lanka has won the T20 title once, claiming victory in 2022. Participation is determined by status; Full Members enter automatically, while Associate nations fill available spots via regional qualifiers. There is no promotion or relegation system attached to the competition.
