Nordic Smash T20 Cup is the first franchise-based Twenty20 cricket competition in Sweden. Launched in 2026, the tournament operates independently of the traditional club-based domestic pyramid known as Cricket Ligan. While the Swedish Cricket Federation provides oversight via a leasing agreement, the league maintains a closed franchise system without promotion or relegation. The six founding teams joined the competition: Gothenburg Phoenix, Malmö Mavericks, Stockholm City, Stockholm United, Uppsala Tigers, and Västerås United. The format utilizes a single round-robin group stage followed by knockout semi-finals and a final. Västerås United claimed the inaugural title by defeating Stockholm City in the championship match.
The competition distinguishes itself through its commercial structure and player recruitment. Investment came from former Sweden international Manuj Jadvest and businessman Sanjay Mahajan, who each reportedly contributed €400,000. Franchise ownership includes notable international brands; the French label Ultimate Garb backs Malmö Mavericks, while Bangla Tigers supports Uppsala Tigers. The league employs overseas international players to elevate the profile of the sport in the country. West Indies fast bowler Kesrick Williams and Pakistani bowler Shariz Ahmad were among the high-profile talents recruited for the inaugural season. Broadcast rights for the tournament were secured by XVI Sports, ensuring media coverage for the new domestic competition.
