Nordic Women T20 Cup 2023/24

The Nordic Women T20 Cup is a regional cricket tournament for women’s national teams drawn from the Nordic area, with occasional invitation of European neighbours. It was established in 2022 or 2023, the first widely recorded edition arriving in August 2023 at Kerava in Finland under Cricket Finland. The event is run jointly by the national cricket associations of Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Estonia, frequently under the Nordic Cricket Council or ICC Europe. It operates outside the formal national pyramid, acting as a development and regional championship platform for women’s cricket in Northern Europe. The 2023 edition used a single round-robin group stage without playoffs, crowning the side with the most points as champion. In 2024, Norway hosted a round-robin featuring five teams, including Guernsey Women. The 2025 edition moved to Denmark, where a five-team round-robin league saw Germany Women take the title. The 2026 edition is planned as a double round-robin group stage. Regular participants include Denmark Women, Sweden Women, Norway Women, Finland Women and Estonia Women. Invited guests have featured Guernsey Women and Germany Women. Sweden Women did not appear in the 2024 edition. The tournament is separate from the Viking Cup, which is a men’s T20 competition. Winners by year: Sweden Women in 2023, Denmark Women in 2024, and Germany Women in 2025. The cup provides a key fixture for the development of women’s cricket in the Nordic region, offering regular international Twenty20 matches for teams that are not yet full ICC members or are in the early stages of international development. It differs from the European Cricket Championship in its exclusive focus on the Nordic region plus occasional guests and its organization by national associations rather than the continental governing body.
