About

The phrase Pakistan in Australia refers to the bilateral international cricket tour of the Pakistan national team by Australia, not a domestic club competition. The core of the tour is the official international series, currently contested for the Benaud–Qadir Trophy in Test cricket. This trophy was instituted in March 2022 by Cricket Australia and the Pakistan Cricket Board, named after leg-spinners Richie Benaud and Abdul Qadir. Prior to this, the series had no specific named trophy.

The first official tour by Pakistan to Australia took place in 1947–48, led by Abdul Hafeez Kardar, shortly after Pakistan's creation. Australia has dominated the Test history on home soil, winning 10 of the 11 series played prior to 2022; Pakistan has never won a Test series in Australia. The most recent Benaud–Qadir Trophy series was in 2023–24, won by Australia 3–0.

The tour also includes warm-up matches against Australian representative sides. The Prime Minister's XI is an invitational team established in 1951, which plays a traditional warm-up match against the touring national team at Manuka Oval in Canberra. Pakistan has played this fixture in 1990, 2005, and 2023. Other warm-up matches may involve state teams like Victoria XI or the Cricket Australia XI. These club/representative matches are distinct from the official international fixtures and do not carry Test, ODI, or T20I status.
