The Pakistan T20I Tri-Series is a bilateral cricket tournament organized by the Pakistan Cricket Board. It differs from the Pakistan Super League, which is a domestic franchise league, and the ICC T20 World Cup, a global championship. As a bilateral series, it carries no promotion or relegation status and serves primarily as preparation for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The matches are recognized as official T20 Internationals and count towards ICC rankings.
The 2025 edition marked the first time this specific trio of nations competed in a T20I tri-series hosted by Pakistan. The tournament was originally scheduled to begin in Islamabad but was shifted to Rawalpindi due to security concerns following an incident in the capital. The format consisted of a round-robin league stage where each of the three teams played four matches, totaling seven league matches, followed by a final contested by the top two teams.
Pakistan topped the points table and defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets in the final played on November 29, 2025, at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Key performers for Pakistan included Sahibzada Farhan, who scored 80 not out, and Mohammad Nawaz, who took three wickets for 17 runs. This victory ended a 19-year drought for Pakistan in T20I tri-series titles, having previously won the 2018 Zimbabwe Tri-Nation Series against Australia.
The tournament brings together Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe for competitive cricket. It provides a structured environment for teams to test strategies before major international events. The shift in venue highlighted operational adjustments made by the organizers to ensure safety while maintaining the integrity of the competition. The outcome determined which team would claim the regional title for this specific cycle of matches.
