The Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy served as the premier women’s domestic 50-over cricket competition in England and Wales. Organised by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the tournament ran from 2020 to 2024. It replaced the Women's Cricket Super League and was subsequently succeeded by the Women's One-Day Cup following the ECB’s “Project Darwin” restructuring. Eight professional regional teams participated throughout the competition’s lifespan. These clubs operated as fixed hubs without promotion or relegation.
Central Sparks, Northern Diamonds, North West Thunder, South East Stars, Southern Vipers, Sunrisers, The Blaze, and Western Storm competed against each other annually. The format shifted each season: the inaugural 2020 edition utilised North/South groups, while 2021 and 2022 employed a single round-robin structure with playoffs. The 2023 season adopted a double round-robin system, and 2024 introduced semi-finals.
Southern Vipers emerged as the most successful team, securing 2020, 2021, and 2023 titles. Sunrisers claimed the final edition in 2024. Notable individual performances include Evelyn Jones’s highest individual score of 136 not out and Lauren Winfield-Hill’s leading run-scorer titles in 2022 and 2023. The competition operated separately from the Charlotte Edwards Cup, which ran concurrently as the T20 event. While initially distinct from the men’s One Day Cup due to regional versus county structures, the women’s teams aligned with men’s county structures after the 2025 rebranding. The tournament concluded after the 2024 season to accommodate the new national structure.
