Tri-Nation Under-19s Tournament in UAE (United Arab Emirates) 2024/25

The Tri-Nation Under-19s Tournament is a recurring developmental cricket series hosted by the UAE Cricket Board. Organised in collaboration with the International Cricket Council, the event sanctions matches as Youth One Day Internationals. It operates as a series of distinct tri-nation events rather than a permanent league with a single founding year. Since the earliest recorded edition in 2013/14, the participants have varied significantly, ranging from England and Pakistan to Australia, New Zealand, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

The 2024 edition featured Afghanistan Under-19s, Pakistan Under-19s and the host nation, United Arab Emirates Under-19s. Held at the ICC Academy in Dubai, the format consisted of a double round-robin group stage followed by a final. Each team played every other side twice, resulting in six league matches. The top two teams from the group stage advanced to the decider. Afghanistan qualified for the final based on a superior Net Run Rate, while Pakistan secured their place through league results. The host nation was eliminated in the league stage.

The final took place on November 26, 2024. Afghanistan scored 250 for nine wickets in their 50 overs, anchored by Barkat Ibrahimzai with 79 and Nazeef Amiri with 56. Pakistan was bowled out for 229, despite Haroon Arshad’s 70. Afghanistan won by 21 runs. The tournament serves as a high-level preparation series for the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup and ICC Under-19 World Cup qualifiers. It is distinct from the official continental championship organized by the Asian Cricket Council. There is no promotion or relegation associated with this competition; it remains a developmental fixture focused on player growth and international experience for young cricketers in the region.
