West Indies Academy tour of Ireland 2024/25

The West Indies Academy is a composite development squad governed by Cricket West Indies (CWI), formed in October 2019 to bridge the gap between youth cricket and professional first-class and List A cricket. It replaced the West Indies Emerging Team. The squad competes in the West Indies Championship (first-class) and the Super50 Cup (List A). In the West Indies Championship, it is one of eight teams, including six territorial franchises (Barbados Pride, Guyana Harpy Eagles, Jamaica Scorpions, Leeward Islands Hurricanes, Trinidad and Tobago Red Force, Windward Islands Volcanoes) and Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC). The format is a double round-robin league with no promotion or relegation. The Academy won the Super50 Cup in the 2019–20 season and the Headley Weekes Tri-Series in 2023.

The Ireland Emerging Players is a development squad governed by Cricket Ireland, established under this name in late 2023, replacing the Ireland Wolves. It is not a domestic club but a representative team for player development, playing unofficial matches against international academies. Ireland's top-tier domestic structure is the Inter-Provincial Series, comprising the Inter-Provincial Cup (List A) and Inter-Provincial Trophy (T20), contested by three franchises: Leinster Lightning, Northern Knights, and North West Warriors. The Inter-Provincial Championship (first-class) is currently suspended.

The West Indies Academy tour of Ireland in June 2024 featured three List A matches and two unofficial Test matches against Ireland Emerging Players, which Ireland won 3-0 and 2-0 respectively. This tour highlights the distinct roles of the two squads: the West Indies Academy is an integrated part of the regional domestic pyramid, while the Ireland Emerging Players operate outside the domestic league structure as a national development side.
