About

The Women's Valletta Cup is an invitational Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament organized by the Malta Cricket Association (MCA). It began in 2024, joining the existing men's series that has been held annually since 2019. Unlike the domestic top-tier structure known as the T20 Summer League, this event brings together international sides rather than local clubs.

The inaugural edition featured five teams: Malta Women, Greece Women, Isle of Man Women, Serbia Women, and Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) Women. All matches carry official International Cricket Council (ICC) T20I status. The schedule utilized a round-robin group stage where each participant played every other team once. The two highest-ranked sides then met in a single final.

During the 2024 competition, MCC Women finished top of the group stage but chose to waive their right to contest the final. This decision allowed the second-placed Isle of Man Women to play against the third-placed Greece Women. Isle of Man Women secured the victory by defeating Greece by seven wickets in the decisive match played on 25 August. The tournament took place at the Marsa Sports Club in Malta.

Participation is strictly by invitation, meaning there is no promotion or relegation system in place. While the Men's Valletta Cup features different winners such as Czech Republic, Malta, Romania, and Switzerland across previous years, the women's version operates under similar organizational guidelines but with a distinct focus on female athletes. The event provides a platform for associate member nations to compete at the international level within Europe.
