Zimbabwe in Australia is the standard nomenclature for bilateral cricket tours between the national teams of Zimbabwe and Australia. It is not a formal, standing competition with a founding date, league structure, or permanent trophy. The term refers to specific historical series rather than a continuous entity. Organized by Cricket Australia and Zimbabwe Cricket under the International Cricket Council calendar, these tours serve as part of the international schedule, often for World Cup Super League qualification or preparation.
The fixture has deep roots in the sport’s history. In 1994–95, Zimbabwe toured Australia to play two first-class matches and participate in the Benson & Hedges World Series Cup, a tri-series with England. A later instance occurred in 2003–04, when the teams met for two Test matches and the VB Series, another tri-series involving India. Australia won both Tests and the tri-series during that visit. Matthew Hayden scored 380 in the first Test of that series, a notable individual performance.
The most recent tour took place in 2022. Zimbabwe travelled to Townsville for a three-match One Day International series. This event marked the first bilateral ODI series in Australia since 2004. Ryan Burl of Zimbabwe took career-best ODI figures of 5/10 in the third match, helping his side secure their first-ever ODI win on Australian soil. Australia won the series 2–1.
Head-to-Head records show Australia leading in Tests 3–0 and ODIs 31–2 as of 2022. In Twenty20 Internationals, Australia leads 2–1 as of 2026. There is no specific named trophy for the bilateral series itself, although tri-series trophies like the VB Series trophy existed during the multi-nation contests.
