Ignacio Tapia

Ignacio Tapia came through the youth ranks at Huachipato and made his professional debut there in 2016, staying with the club until early 2022. That February, he moved to Universidad de Chile in a transfer that later drew scrutiny from the Chilean Public Prosecutor's Office as part of the "Caso Sartor" investigation, which examined the gap between the fee paid for half his sporting rights and an offer made for the full package the previous year.

On the pitch, Tapia's move to Universidad de Chile brought silverware: he won the Copa Chile in 2024 and the Supercopa de Chile in 2025. His form there earned him a call-up to the Chile national team, and he made his senior debut on 8 February 2025 in a 6–1 friendly win over Panama.

In January 2026, the defender left Universidad de Chile for Atlético Grau in Peru's Liga 1. Accounts differ on the terms of the move, though he has since become a regular starter for the club, wearing the number 3 shirt through the 2026 season.

Tapia's career also includes an underage international honour: he was part of the Chile squad that won gold with the under-20 side at the 2018 South American Games. Across his club career to date, he has scored three goals in around 141 appearances.
