Al-Hazem

A team of young footballers in Ar Rass first called themselves Shabab Ar Rass, then Al-Ahli, before settling in 1966 on the name Al-Hazem, a name that carried into an official licence three years later. The club itself had been playing since 1957.

Supporters know the side as Hazem Al-Samood — the determined ones — and the tag fits a history built more on repeated attempts at the top flight than on time spent there. Al-Hazem first reached the Saudi Pro League in the 2004/05 season, going up as First Division champions. It came back down, returned in 2020/21, then went up again in 2024/25 through the promotion play-off.

Home games are played in red, yellow and blue at the Al-Hazem Club Stadium in Ar Rass, which holds 8,000.

The club Al-Hazem shares that ground with is also the one it faces in its sharpest fixture. Al-Kholood is based in the same town, and the derby between the two is played out by neighbours who use the same pitch rather than sides from opposite ends of a city.
